The Progress Report presents: Extra Credit featuring Digable Planets
An innovative trio who ushered in a movement throughout hip-hop that infused jazz with the boom-bap of traditional rap during the mid-nineties. Not scared to express their feelings of the streets, their beliefs, and influences in music Digable Planets graced the music industry with two classic albums, and a timeless hit with “Cool Like Dat.” After their second album “Blowout Comb” the group disbanded but never strayed away from making music on their own. Eventually they got together to tour again and ended up in Houston, TX where they performed with the Texas Southern University Jazz Ensemble, The Progress Report was able to sit down with the “Jimmy Diggin Cats.” We are going to coin this an “Intervix Tape” as we introduce to you the first Progress Report (Extra Credit) episode featuring the “Creamy Spies” themselves Digable Planets to find out whats been happening in their “Time and Space.”
