well.
i looked at my watch.
and apparently i still have some cred round these parts.
whenever the opportunity arises i am more than happy to
do my part when it comes to putting people on to a certain act
that they otherwise might not be too privy of.
unlike my pre internet ravings in the press about d’angelo, erykah, and jill.
and my religion created especially for slum village.
and the list goes on and on and on for the likes of little brother, sa-ra, j’davey, tonya morgan, esperanza, and the gaspers of all gaspers solange.
well. time to roll out the barrel yet again (i’m slightly late because frank featured them in "rappers i know ahmir won’t bandwagon until it’s too late" section)
i dont wanna make all that a big deal about them. i simply wanna give you a chance to "in" yourself on the bottom flo.
ladies and gentleman: *drumroll*
HISD
again. despite the path that my career took my personal taste still gravitates to the basic meat and potatoes in hip hop.
Guynamite : EP 2
Mukatsuku
The Who (Feat. Krystal Hardwick)
The Pressure (Feat. D.ablo & Selina Campbell)
Start Again (Feat. D.ablo)
Shannon's Honeymoon
Following 2007's "EP 1", Mukatsuku release another value for money, strictly vinyl-only five tracker with the imaginative title of, yep you guessed it, "EP 2". Opening track "The Who" was recorded with Houston based singer Krystal Hardwick, and is a tasty jazz-tinted nu-soul winner. Next up is "The Pressure", a wicked broken track that developed when Guy was messing about fusing broken beat rhythms with old school garage basslines. First up on side B is "Start Again", a gorgeous poetic soul gem featuring another talented vocalist and composer, D.ablo - this one's for the head nodders. "Light At The End" is a poignant and contemplative string-laden piece hung on a broken beat framework. Lastly comes mellow soul-jazz groover "Shannon's Honeymoon", an instrumental co-produced with another London producer, Analog Jones.

I'm probably going to hurt some feelings with this one, but obviously I don't care. I've encountered a bunch of females in my lifetime and during those encounters, one reoccuring theme keeps annoying me. Lets get on the term "princess" for a few moments. Widely used as a term of endearment, "princess" has also devolved in mostly American usage to mean any woman of exceptional popularity, such as the "princesses" of high school prom courts and beauty pageants. The term can also be used disparagingly to refer to a young woman or girl perceived of as being vain or spoiled.
Fresh off the heels of their stellar debut 'The District', H.I.S.D. (Hueston Independent Spit District) returns with their latest offering, the 'Summer Sessions' Digi-tape. Building off of the momentum of 'The District', this concoction of all new original joints picks up where 'The District' left off without missing a beat...
The Olympics suck. There, I said it. Call ESPN Olympics apologist and epically pathetic radio host Mike Golic and tell him I said so. Everyone trying to shove this "Olympic greatness" bullsh*t down my throat is a complete hypocrite. If the Olympics are so riveting...if it really is more than 699 offbeat sports and one that everyone recognizes (basketball), then please, educate me on how much gymnastics or swimming you watch other than once every 4 years. You can't. Because you don't. Yet you are trying to convince me that I should dibble dabble in it NOW? Just because the event is overhyped? Au contrare.

I am a fan of words. Clearly. One of the great things about them is that if done correctly, you can get your thoughts across in a concise manner so the other party knows what you were going for. Sticks and stones? Pfft. Words are a way more powerful thing. Remember those “knowledge is power” commercials? Poetry has moved some to tears. Speeches have inspired nations. Music lyrics have affected generations. Books have been burned and banned due to content. Races were denied the right to learn to read. See what I mean? Words are a great form of communication, and thusly a massive source of miscommunication.

My morning routine is as follows: hear alarm, hit snooze, hear alarm, hit snooze, turn on the news, roll out of bed, get ready for work. The news used to be a vital part of my morning. Things out there change at the drop of a hat, or drop of a bomb. It’s never the same as the day it was before. I need to know if I need to take an umbrella or a different route into the job. And secretly, I used to hope my building had caught on fire and I could get back in the bed.
I hate shopping. Let me clarify that, I hate shopping for clothes. So when I did have to go, I found a system that got me in and out in a timely fashion. I’d find a store that suited my nerdy-classic-chic-white boy sense of style. Try on jeans and a t-shirt once and bam, I had my sizes memorized. I even knew that since the Limited owned Gap AND Old Navy, the blues would match. The mall was my oyster to shuck polo after polo as I saw fit. I became a certified denim fiend. To the untrained eye I had the closet of a cartoon character. Everything was the same but my system was flawless.. until recently.
