Flash Gordon Parks

Jason Woods, aka Flash Gordon Parks, is the documentarian for Peace Uv Mine Entertainment LLC. Woods began documenting the trail of artists and events for PUM fgp in 2004 as the photographer for Savvi’s debut, Hueston Chronicles.

An accomplished photographer of over ten years, Woods began his study of the art form at Jack Yates Senior High School. He continued his study and progression as an artist at Sam Houston State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Photography. During that time Woods began cultivate all of his inherent artistic talents. A lifelong lover of music, he began to dig deeper into the history and inner workings of music through crates of records.

Determined to create new mediums of art that combine various genres in innovative ways, Woods created The Beautiful Side of Ugly (2005) with Eric Blaylock aka EQuality. TBSOU combined the poetic words of Blaylock with the striking images of Woods to document the beauty of urban areas of Houston, Texas. With an innate ability to take images and turn them into to striking graphic images, Woods then made a seamless transition into a resident graphic designer for PUM. He has created album artwork and promotional materials for HISD, Michelle Thibeaux, and Krystal Hardwick.

As a DJ, Woods strives to reach the souls of people with music. He believes his job is not only to entertain, but expose the masses to artists of which they are not aware. Listening to his sets can be a mixture of a lesson in music history, walk down memory lane, and listening party for new artists, all the while compelling you to lose your inhibitions and dance. In December 2008, Woods began a series of listening parties entitled “Straight No Chaser”, to highlight local and world renowned artists while providing a refreshing entertainment alternative to Houstonians.

In 2009, Woods began a new venture with DJ Soul One and GrandfatherCloc, The Progress Report. The Progress Report is a podcast infusing social and entertainment commentary with music and interviews. The podcast highlights new artists as well as paying homage to icons in hip hop and beyond. Working in front as a commentator as well as behind the scenes as a producer, Woods continues his mission to merge the old and new with humor and style.

A multifaceted artist, Woods plans to continue documenting and progressing urban music through the mediums of music and visual art for Peace Uv Mine Entertainment.
