Come out and play with your favorite ‘Tru Skool Crew’, H.I.S.D. as they take the stage for the opening night of Roc Da Mic Tuesday’s.  There will be a plethora of live talent all backed by The Smash Band.  Tuesday also markes the vinyl LP release of The Weakend, so for the FIRST TIME, you will be able to purchase H.I.S.D.’s ‘THE WEAKEND’ on WAX! Space UP!

H.I.S.D. loves Hip Hop and it is because they love Hip Hop that they feel a responsibility to elevate it and carry it forward, which is exactly what they are doing. I went to see the brothers rock the other night at the Aloft Hotel in its poshly decorated lobby and while watching them perform, one could see the pure joy and excitement they felt and shared just through ‘rockin’. With the groove-heavy and tight backings of the live band Another Level, H.I.S.D. performed 3 of it’s most popular numbers from the new album, The Weakend, Rockin’ aka Space Up, Sheetrock, & Lando. The crowd, dressed seemingly more to suit the lounge setting than for a hip hop concert, rose to the occasion of the funk. It was great to see H.I.S.D. transform what is usually another one of Houston’s many after work chill out spots into a circle of Hip Hop lovers! Well, actually, it wasn’t just hip hop fans in the circle. There were a few people visiting the hotel who wandered into the lobby wondering what was going on and were properly schooled by Houston’s own!

January 13, 2011 marked an amazing night of music, energy and showmanship. HISD performed a few songs from their groundbreaking album The Weakend. The group was accompanied by an incredible collective of musicians, Another Level. Here’s a foto recap of the night in question.
